Behind the scenes with Joy Dallanegra
Routine,http://www.funkybride.com/content/main-difference-somewhere-between-headphones-spun3, inspiration, organization and excitement define my life as the head of Marketing for MCGP. Every day at 4:40 AM my day begins,Roger Vivier Sandals, and like a well oiled machine I board the 6:08 train to Grand Central station. The walk from Grand Central to the Flatiron is one of my favorite parts of the day. I play a game w/ myself trying to walk the 21 blocks without stopping, roger vivier heels, during my walk I either review my upcoming day with one word reminders: ALA,Roger Vivier Online, Dan (my boss), BEA,roger vivier online shopping, Halo, It a Book, Mark (our sales director), CBC,Roger Vivier outlet, etc,Roger Vivier Flats, or I clear my mind and enjoy the walk (especially the walk through Madison Square Park where the plantings obsess me). I always the first person on the 10th floor. It quiet and I can catch up on projects and plan my day/ week/ month.
The pace is fast and furious in marketing- we live in 4 seasons simultaneously so we are always juggling many projects. I been a lifelong reader and worked as a bookseller for years before coming to the publishing side of the business but I can tell you that sometimes in the frantic pace of the moment if someone asks me what I reading I draw a blank, even though there are so many books that I excited about (often the book I reading at the moment won be out for 16 months). Anyhow the life of a marketing director is not as glamorous as you might think. Most of the time between 8:30 and 5:30 is spent in meetings; even lunch (4 crackers,Roger Vivier hong kong, 16 grape tomatoes and 8 slices of cheese) is usually eaten during meetings. My job is to manage and direct the marketing efforts of all of the groups that make up marketing including publicity,http://www.autonewspr.com/bbs//viewthread.php?tid=2419452&extra=,Roger Vivier Shoes,http://coffeeghost.net/2008/06/18/python-is-the-new-basic/, institutional marketing,Roger Vivier UK, on-line marketing, advertising and promotion and retail marketing. I really lucky to have some incredibly talented people in my department and we spend hours brainstorming plans for books, lines on posters,http://www.hkhobby.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1096303&extra=page%3D1, book trailer storyboards,http://beachmonkey.com/index.php?do=/blog/add/, catalog copy and more.
The excitement comes when we fan the flames and a fire starts. Some times it is a slow burn like Moon Bear, where we created a campaign that included raising money to adopt a bear (we even did a bake sale in the flatiron), partnering w/ the Bronx Zoo and Animals Asia and taking Brenda and Ed to Winter Institute to meet booksellers. Now the books are out in the world and slowly more and more people are discovering Moon Bear. The fire is catching. And then there is the wonder of working on a book that makes you laugh every time you read it. a Book is such a book for me. I read this book aloud again and again to myself and groups of people, everyone laughs. We made book bags to giveaway and started a the printed book group on Facebook. In 3 weeks we have 1400 members and the book doesn go on sale until Aug. 31st- check out our group. But finally it is just plain thrilling to work on so many good books that are certain to turn many children into story lovers,Roger Vivier Shoes Outlet, because stories have the power to change lives.
