The Brook, Southampton, UK
Review submitted by Paul and Zack Sands

Well, the long wait for the English Great White fans is over. Was it worth the 7 year wait? You bet !! It was without doubt an absolute privilege to see the original line up back together to celebrate the 25th Anniversary in style. I was lucky enough to have been at the Brighton Centre in March 1984 when the boys first came to the UK supporting Whitesnake and i have been HOOKED ever since. My 14 year old son and i were right at the front, on Michael and Sean's side of the stage and from the first notes of Desert Moon (hats off to Jack for his professionalism in restarting the song after his mic didn't work as he started to sing the opening lines, i thought he was gonna lynch the man responsible!) through to the finale of Once Bitten Twice Shy this was a rock band on top form. How on earth the rest of this world has not discovered what the rest of us have known for ages (that Great White Are the best rock and roll band in the world)! is beyond me. The crowd greeted the band like returning heroes and there was some great interaction and anecdotes from Jack telling us all how when he was younger, he wanted to own a castle in England and become a rock star. One achieved and one is work in progress!

The set list included Old Rose Motel, Face The Day,Rollin Stoned, Paradise (from Jack's For You solo album), Mistabone, Call It Rock n Roll, Rock Me, Can't Shake It, Kill That Red Rooster (from Mark's 2.0 solo album) Back To The Rhythm, House of Broken Love and a superb No Quarter, Great Zeppelin style. These are some of the best blues and rock songs of the last two and a half decades and sound as fresh and vibrant now as they did the day they were written. Thanks to Michael and Sean for giving my son a plectrum each, he was over the moon and told me when the show was over "That was the best concert i have seen Dad." (he has been to 12 gigs so far) He was spot on i totally agreed with him and i am a veteran of over 150 gigs. Thank you to the band for making the trip over to the UK and we can't wait to see you later in the year (as Jack promised the crowd).
